Use SearchMonkey to drive traffic.

May 19, 2008

Yahoo!’s new tool SearchMonkey can prove to be very useful for media companies that want to drive traffic to niche sites, local business listings and marketplace.

Here are just a couple things your developers can do-

  • Build enhanced search results that will provide searchers with a more useful experience by including links, images, ratings and name-value pairs in the search results for these pages.
  • Develop apps that allow users to tailor a specific search result similar to Facebook.

These types of things will definitely increase the quality of your site visits and will have a long term effect on the overall quantity of visits.

Local Search efforts will benefit from SearchMonkey, as well. Search results can be created that contain links directly to the “Business Profile” page of your local listings, coupons, video, and print display ads. Your dining vertical (any vertical) can pop off the page by developing a structured result like the example above.
